The first female-only condom, released April 2016, is made in India. Previously, 2006, a special condom for women has been marketed but received less public attention. Because, most of them think that condoms are only used by men. However, when re-introduced in 2016 and then, women's special condoms are in great demand. Why?

If used correctly, women's special condoms are 95 percent effective in preventing pregnancy and reducing the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases or STDs.

How to use? First, you can remove the product from the packaging, be careful not to tear it. Then press the tip with three fingers, thumb, forefinger and middle finger.

Insert the tip of the condom into the vagina, while inserting the tip of the condom, you can press the tip with the finger. Make sure the big ring covers the area around the vaginal opening. "It's all about empowering women," said Minister of Health and Family, Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Although it was launched in 2006, women's special condom, launched again in 2016, is the only women-only condom officially launched by the government in India. Condoms with the brand Velvet is priced at Rs 150 per pack. 1 pack consists of 3 packs of condoms.

Female condoms used correctly and consistently can reduce the risk of HIV virus spread by 94 to 97 percent. Meanwhile, condoms commonly used by men can only reduce the risk of HIV disease between 80 to 95 percent.

Unfortunately, there are only two female-specific condoms recognized by the US Food and Drug Administration, the Female Health Co and FC2 production condoms. Both of these condoms pocketed the permission of the United States Food and Drug Administration last 2009. FC2 condom material or material itself is softer and cheaper than other condoms.

However, at this time a lot of female special condoms on the market including Velvet made in India. The variation is intended for women no longer awkward to use condoms during sex.

Another example is The Cupid, another female-specific condom brand also selling well in India. The Cupid comes in 2 different colors, namely white and pink. The aroma was quite unique. The Cupid has a distinctive vanilla odor so it is not surprising that many Indian women are curious.

According to researchers from Indiana University, women-specific condoms with Elliptical shapes are much easier to use than other models because they resemble genuine vaginal anatomy.
