How to take care of your body on long haul flights

I was a cabin crew for six years and there are certain things I learnt while on the job;

While you are on board, do not stay in one position move around, take a walk to the gallery at the back. Have a talk with the flight attendants. You may wonder how to start a conversation with them, start by appreciating their efforts on board and you will see the response😊. Lack of motion on board results in blood stagnation in the legs which may lead to swelling or even blood clot.

Drink lots of fluid especially water, why? while on board you will get dehydrated as the cabin is very dry so your body produces less saliva, resulting in active growth of bacteria thereby causing mouth odor.

Dehydration will also have an effect on your skin so make sure you have a handy moisturising cream.

It’s better not to fly when you have a flu but if you do make sure to chew gum or hard candy because changes in pressure especially during take off and landing will cause your ear to pop thereby causing temporary deafness. Chewing gum or hard candy will stimulate salivation and swallowing will let some air out.

In all when on board a flight adhere to rules and regulations. If you have any questions do not hesitate to press the call button or walk directly to the flight attendant. Safe flight!
