Problems with existing doors

The door of the microwave cabinet next to the refrigerator was uncomfortable. The existing door was a 90 degree flap door with the cabinet, but leaving the door open interfered with movement.

There was also a problem that the weight of the door could not be properly supported and could not be fully opened. Flap doors are effective when installed in doors close to the ceiling, but they are less usable at medium heights. I asked the interior designer for a door that goes up vertically, but she misinterpreted it and set it up like this.

Searching for appropriate door hardware

I decided to modify it myself, and I searched the hardware I wanted. The brand products were quite expensive and the door size was limited, so they didn't fit my requirements. Most of the interior hardware is on AliExpress, so I changed direction and started searching for AliExpress. The search term was lift-up door, and as expected, many types were searched. Since the search contents were generally similar, I chose to look cheap and not too much trouble with shipping.

It was able to withstand about 5kg of weight, and the limit on the horizontal length of the door was relatively free from 500mm to 900mm, satisfying all my requirements. Not like AliExpress, it took about 10 days to receive the delivery.

In addition, there are detailed information tables and installation instructions unlike AliExpress products. However, I didn't look at the manual very closely because I could intuitively figure out how to install it when I received the product.

Installing the Lift-Up Door

The first thing to do was to connect the hydraulic rod to the bracket, which was very powerful and very difficult. Both sides had to be engaged, but one was successful and the other failed. As always, it was not the right way to do it by force. The correct method is to secure the bracket to the cabinet, and then secure the screw connecting the hydraulic rod to the bracket using an electric screwdriver to make the connection effortless.

The highest difficulty is the connection between the bracket and the door, where the movement was simulated, penciled in the appropriate location, and screw holes were slightly left in the front of the connection before connecting. It's better to have one person hold the door and the other connected with an electric screwdriver to make the work easier.

Installation is now complete!

The hydraulic pressure is strong, so even a slight lift automatically goes up to the end.

Although it requires adequate force to close the door, it is enough to close it with one hand.

However, it is recommended to hold the middle side of the door when opening and closing. If you pull it hard to the side, the hydraulic pressure doesn't work evenly, making it look a little twisted.
