Ligel’s Black Male Artist Professor Series aims to showcase and celebrate the accomplishments of Black male visual artists and art education professors who have made significant contributions to the art world. This series, inspired by Fauvism, uses a combination of acrylic and oil paints and incorporates symbolic references associated with each subject. Each painting measures 36" x 48" and will feature unique techniques to represent the subjects. The series will include 20 to 25 paintings, highlighting influential figures such as Robert Reed, Aaron Douglas, Charles White, and many more.

Ligel’s Upcoming Projects

Ligel plans to spend the next year painting 14 to 19 more gentlemen listed in the series and will publish a book commemorating their contributions and impact on our society. The book will be available online on Ligel’s website, and the collection will first be pitched to art museums in the US for exhibition.
