Lightning struck an enormous oil stockpiling tank on Friday night in Matanzas, Cuba, causing a gigantic fire.

"We are intently following the showdown with the fire in the modern zone. We trust the specialists of the daring region, the fearless firemen, and the CUPET laborers," tweeted President Miguel Díaz-Canel, alluding to the state-claimed Cuba Oil Union.

Cuba's state-run media said no passings had been accounted for.The huge fire comes when Cuba faces an extending energy emergency in the midst of fuel deficiencies."No human misfortunes, wounds or fuel spillage into the ocean were accounted for after the fire," tweeted Cuba's Ministry of Energy and Mines.

An electrical release at the foundation of the oil tank, which stores unrefined petroleum, caused the fire, as per Susely Morfa González, the primary secretary of the Community Party of Cuba in the region of Matanzas.
The fire didn't influence the Thermoelectric Powerplant Antonio Guiteras, the service said, which adds to the public power framework.

Specialists of the region, the local group of fire-fighters, the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Interior are doing combating the blazes, said González.
