Always in search of the Holy Grail of lightpainting trying to achieve something no-one else has done before or if I think I've come up with something cool, someone else has invariably beat me to it!
I think I may have come close with this one:
For this shot I lined up the most silhouetted lightpainter on the planet, @fadetoblack with a gelled Godox strobe located way down the tunnel. I then panned my camera across to the right approx 45 degrees (some trial and error involved here) and set about rotating my camera rotation device while Tim stands away from the camera spinning a bunch of burning steel wool on a hand drill. The effect of standing away from the camera is that Tim blocks out some of the light from the sparks creating a double circle even though there is only one spin of sparks.
Sometimes lightpainting is about what light you prevent from entering the image sensor rather than exposing the sensor, if that makes sense!
About me: I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
