I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with Lil Dicky's latest entry to the world of music videos. It's pretty much a perfect pop song, with a ridiculous amount of cameos to support a new initiative by the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
The actual animation is super super good... definitely watch until the very end.
It's clearly aimed at younger generations... which is awesome, especially considering Climate Change isn't taught as much as parents and teachers would like. It's so weird and annoying that the oil industry has managed to successfully sow doubt amongst baby boomers. Read any article about climate change and the comments are absolutely filled to the brim with skeptics and deniers.
I've never understood why so many baby boomers fight every climate change article so hard. Is it the guilt? They don't like being told they did something wrong? Or didn't do something right? I mean, those points are understandable... but by throwing shade constantly, what do they hope to achieve? Mankind is destroyed quicker? Have any of these deniers or skeptics thought about the consequences if they're wrong?
Especially since ancient bacteria is now being thawed out - it just seems like a super bizarre thing to do nothing about.
Obviously I applaud Lil Dicky's efforts, and I hope this sort of music video can use the McDonald's marketing strategy of marketing straight to kids in order to influence the family's purchasing habits. If Baby Boomers aren't going to make the smart decisions, maybe all we can do is sick their kids onto them. After all, time is running out.
Please share the Earth music video if you can... the more eyes on it the better...
He's also got these information videos to complement his music video, which is a super smart move... even if I'm distracted by his feet most of the time:
He comes across as pretty sweary and a bit dumb... but y'know, I'm sure the youth respect that.
