Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- The mother of the late Chester Bennington opened his voice and criticized Linkin Park for recruiting Emily Armstrong as the band's new vocalist. Susan Eubanks feels betrayed by Linkin Park's new decisions and steps.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Eubanks said that Linkin Park had promised to always provide information if there were plans to continue their career as a group after Chester Bennington died.

However, he ultimately found out about Emily Armstrong's decision as Linkin Park's new vocalist from Google, not directly from the band members.

"I feel betrayed. They told me if they were going to do something, they would tell me," said Susan Eubanks, as reported by Variety on Thursday (19/9).

"They didn't tell me, and they probably knew that I [wasn't] going to be very happy. I was very upset about it."

He then talked about meeting Linkin Park members, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn, over the years. The two of them certainly never mentioned plans for a reunion.
One thing that Shinoda has discussed is the plan to release new songs featuring Chester Bennington's vocals again.

However, the announcement of the release of Linkin Park's new project was ultimately accompanied by a statement that Emily Armstrong was joining as the new vocalist to replace Chester Bennington, who died in 2017.

"When I go to Google to look for something, the first thing that often comes up is Linkin Park. And I look at the whole thing looking, 'We have an announcement.'"

"All week, they were at the top if you typed anything into Google," he said.

Eubanks said he saw the group's livestream performance announcing Armstrong as Bennington's replacement earlier this month by chance and thought about the decision.

He then recalled Shinoda once telling Bennington that Linkin Park's songs would sound better with a female vocalist, and Bennington telling him that if he left the group, they would recruit a woman to sing in the band.

"I don't think there's anyone in the world who has the same voice," he said.

"And when I heard that, I was so disgusted because no, they tried to do exactly what Chester did, but they didn't succeed in doing it."

Susan Eubanks' comments about Linkin Park follow mixed reactions to Armstrong joining the band.

Bennington's son, Jaime, criticized the decision to bring in Dead singer Sara, stating that Shinoda had "quietly erased my father's life and legacy directly... during international suicide prevention month."

Linkin Park on September 5 announced a new chapter in their career by introducing Emily Armstrong as the band's new vocalist, and planning the release of a new album entitled From Zero.
