Good day Steemit friends! Guys let me share to you this article that i have been reading on, from The Bookshelf by Linda San Agustin, i found it very interesting so, i would love to share it to you, it's about the title "What Five Books Would You Bring to the End of the World?".
Welcome to 2018! Earlier today, a friend of mine asked me a very poignant question:
if the end of the world was here and you could only save five books, which ones would they be, and why?
So, we're going to talk to you today about the five books that touch my life most.
1.The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
This isn't actually cheating, as there is a big book that contains all seven book of the series. The Chronicles of Narnia is one of the best books you can give to children and adult to read. It tells the story of good and evil, and it is also reminiscent of the Bible's teaching. So in essence you are reading a fantasy novel which is loosely based on the Bible. This is a great way to continue to spread the message while at the same time making the characters more relatable to younger readers.
2.The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho
Paulo Coelho is one of the most renowned storytellers of all time. However, The Pilgrimage is different from most of his novels, as this one is about his own journey to Santiago de Compostela. I love this book because this is where i first learned to meditate and to embrace stillness. They say that we all have our moments of clarity where we suddenly stumble upon the mysteries of the Universe and come out touched by it - mine was when i read this book. If the world is truly ending, this piece is a wonderful gift to share with other survivors.
3.Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes
This book may not rank high upon the list of favorites of most people, as Marian is technically a chic lit writer. However, what some people do not know about Marian Keyes is that she tackles heavy topics and coats them with humor, so that you can digest them easier. Sushi for Begginers is a wonderful story about a career-woman who wanted to conquer tje world, only to realize that there is more to life than winning. I want to bring this book with me to the end of the world because it would remind me that vulnerability and humility are good things, as they can both strengthen me to become a better person.
4.A monster Calls by Patrick Ness
A Monster Calls is a poignant book about a monster that comes walking into life of Conor. Despite its alarming height, the monster actually just tells stories. However, the novel is wonderful since it teaches Conor the art of letting go through the stories. Conor had to confront his fears and to let go. I wanted to bring this book with me because it would remind me that at times, even though we want something so much, we have to let go of it to be stronger.
5.The Time of My Life by Cecilia Ahern
I consider Cecilia Ahern as a wonderful wordsmith who tells fairytales for adults. In The Time of My Life, Cecilia introduced the concept of your life being an actual being, who is affected by your actions. For example, if you are a slacker who always sleeps late and has no drive in life, then one day your life can come knocking on your door, armed with body odor and a generous serving of pimples. While i know we don't have a physical manifestation of our lives except the ones that we are currently living, this is a wonderful reminder that everything we do affects the people around us - and in effect, our life. This will teach us to be more mindful of what we are doing lest we suffer the consequences in the long run.
Choosing only five books ti bring with me is so hard. How about you, what books would you bring to the end of the world?
I hope you enjoyed reading this one Steemit friends! God bless us all Steemians and our families!
