What Does it Mean of Painted Charcoal All Over Your Body?
November 2 is "All Souls Day" in the Philippines and during this time Filipinos visited the tomb of their love ones who are already dead. Others spent a night together, eating and drinking with them.
Starting today until the 1st week of November 2016, I will be posting Filipino horror stories to entertain the community with the frightening stories came from our ancestors and even to a few incidents on the present day.
19 years ago when I was still at the womb of my mother, father and mother decided to move out to our new address at Mabuhay Carmona, Cavite because majority of my mother's relatives are residing their. Our place was just along the highway and at the back of our house is an extensive forest and even our house were surrounded by trees. There were only few houses during that time and we are just renting the place where we lived.
Our place were known to be where dead people are thrown.
According to mother, when I was still at her womb, there was an old woman who always come to visit her at home. Since my father is working far away from home, mother is always left alone during day time. Since mother is a good person, she entertain the old woman as a sort of respect, they talked a lot.
Since then, explainable things started to happen. Every morning when mother woke up, she had this charcoal painted on different parts of her body. Even the beddings that were use during asleep has charcoal, which leaves my father wash the beddings everyday because he don't want that my mother will exert too much effort since she is pregnant.
That thing happened almost every day, even though she did nothing. Waking up in the morning, painted charcoal are everywhere and the old woman is also visiting her mother everyday.
One day, mother got bored and visited a neighbor who is also an old woman and mentioned the thing that happen to her every morning, where her body got painted charcoal. The neighbor then advice her to visit a healer at Quiapo. So mother and father went to the said healer and Quiapo. They were surprised because they have not mentioned anything yet, the healer got a piece of paper and started to draw. After a few minutes, the healer showed them the drawing, they surprised because what they seen on the drawing was the face of old woman who always visited mother when she's alone.
"This woman is a monster," said the healer, and she's slowly eating the child in my mother's womb. According to the healer, my mother was possessed by the monster and that's the reason why she has charcoal painted all over his body every morning.
The healer told my parents that when you arrive at home, splash salt to your house, to the surroundings, in front and in every corners of the house, in the window and in the roof.
A day after, father did not report to work and he saw the old woman and this time it didn't go near our house. She was just gazing towards our house like she was thinking so deep. The suspicion of my father were intensified that the old woman is truely a monster because she's afraid of salt.
This story is based on the real experience of the mother of Luna Astraea, the real writer of the story. This was written in Tagalog language and was originally translated by @juvyjabian to be understood by the community.
