The Philippines (Pilipinas), officially the Republic Of the Philippines is the Supreme or Sovereign Island Nation (Country) located in Southeast Asia near Western Pacific Ocean. It has 7,641 Islands and is categorized into 3 Parts, namely: LUZON, VISAYAS & lastly MINDANAO (where I am Located or I lived in). The Philippines has an area of 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi) and a population of approximately 100 million.

Our Philippine Flag:

Our Coat of Arms:

Our Motto:

"Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa"

Translation: For God, People, Nature and Country."

Our National Anthem: (Lupang Hinarang)

Translation: Chosen Land

Dakilang Sagisag ng Pilipinas:

Translation: Great seal of the Philippines

When it comes to languages, we have a lot of indigenous written and spoken language of Metro Manila and other urban centers in the Philippines used as the language of communication of the ethnic groups but our Official Language is Filipino. There are actually 19 recognized languages in our country such as; Aklanon, Bicolano, Cebuano, Chavacano, Hiligaynon, Ibanag, Ilocano, Ivatan, Kapampangan, Kinaray-a, Maguindanao, Maranao, Pangasinan, Sambal, Surigaonon, Tagalog, Tausug, Waray & Yakan. And our Optional languages are Spanish & Arabic.

So this is a short history of the Philippines including languages & ethnicity. Next post will be the Ethnic Groups here in the Philippines. I would love to hear any questions about how we manage to do life here since we grow in different race. It's not difficult anyway, the truth is, IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.
