Don't Steal Videos From YouTube - It's Not Okay!!! [Littleboy's Abuse Reporter Contest]

This is my entry for reporting abuse in @littleboy's first contest to help teach Steemians how to report abuse to @steemcleaners.

Why Reporting Abuse is Important

"See something, say something" definitely holds true here, because everyday we find more and more users sharing things that do not belong to them, in hopes of receiving a monetary reward. This is not okay to do by any means, and disrupts rewards going to everyone who is putting an honest effort on this platform. By properly reporting abuse, we can all be a little better off when it comes to the content integrity we come across, and fill our experience with more creativity and originality.

The User I Reported

is @isaakwit, but is not for the reason you would first suspect. His account was made last month, and every few minutes he posts one Youtube video, with the title of the video and no context. This user got a report from me, although he attributed where he got the videos from, he failed to provide any new contribution or context whatsoever, and is only serving to clog up the feed from users finding posts of substance.

If we want to watch videos on Youtube, we'll do it there, from the original content creator's channel. His behavior falls directly under spam, and should not receive any rewards for the posts he is making with other people's work without adding his own.

His account was found through the new tab, which doesn't filter any content as opposed to using a tag. I like using this tab when trying to discover new content, and in the past- I have found some great authors. The new tab isn't meant to be flooded by content that can be posted in two seconds.

Report someone today, and help make Steemit become a better experience for everyone using it!

copycats temporarily benefit from the others hard work

This is a great observation @jyoti-thelight,

People who steal work, only look to the immediate rewards/satisfaction and miss out on the big picture of nurturing and building their own skills. Over time they will begin to get frustrated wondering why "the easy way" isn't working as much as they initially thought.

Mahalo,
@shello

Yes, indeed it's a thing and what concerns me is it gets locked away in the blockchain. We definitely, need to make it harder for those looking for an easy way to make money. Of course, it never is and just makes work for others.

Precisely. Blockchain technology is great because things can't just be removed like traditional storage. At the same time, there does need to be limitations on what can be posted in what matters to prevent this type of behavior from continuously reappearing. For example, when uploading a video, there should be a form box you would check to claim ownership of the video, and by failing to do so, being met with a hard character limit that your post cannot be shorter than. Something like this would definitely curve people trying to monetize other's work.

This really is spam. He isn't even trying to explain why he's posting these videos.

Excellent @shello. Good eye. 😃
