Another day at the Shelter - A short and painful life

Children do not have the habit of talking about personal life, they are reserved, closed with their life traumas.

Today was different, I went to the lottery to pay a rent account. I was going out alone, when a girl thirteen-year-old asked if he could go along. Of course yes.

On the way, without me asking anything she was talking about her life. I'll try to make a summary.

At 6, she remembers the scenes she saw in her house. The mother took her stepfather, the four brothers crying silently under the bed, no food in the house, no milk and at bedtime, the father forced his mother to have sex in front of the children, since the house was comfortable, OO money of the house was to buy alcohol and drugs, the stepfather drank and used drugs, marijuana and cocaine.

At 7 years old the stepfather sexually abused her, at the time the mother did not believe her, said that he would not have the courage, trusted him. After this happened, she started to miss school a lot, started to stay with the "favela girls", as she herself said, began to give a "kiss" on the older boys. Since there was a lack in school, the Guardianship Council was activated, consequently she and the brothers were welcomed in another shelter.

At 9, in another shelter, she smoked cigarettes, fought at school, had several boyfriends at school and on the street, she was very rebellious. At that time his 3 younger brothers were adopted. She had to change her shelter, not yet.

At age 11 she was in a shelter far away, which is not to have contact even, she escaped from this shelter, got involved with drugs, lived and dated with the trafficker in the area, who was 26 years old, she and her friend of 16 were dating the same guy, she suffered a miscarriage, went to the hospital and again the Guardianship Council was activated.

Almost 12 years old she was welcomed in the shelter that I work.

Well, I did not quite understand why you told me your story. As soon as the children arrive at the shelter, they are already registered to spend with the psychologist, it is a volunteer who charges very little. I'm glad she passed quickly, and she's enjoying it.

Nowadays she is a quieter girl, she is not a sane little girl, sometimes she gives a few slaps on the children, gives a kiss at school, but she has improved a lot, a lot.
