The cost of Land — five quadrillion dollars

in live •  7 years ago

Scientists have repeatedly warned that the Terrans actually evolved into environmental bankrupt, exhausting the planet's resources. However, there is good news: the Earth still is very expensive. Astrophysicist from the US came up with a unique equation to calculate the price of the planets.

In this formula, Greg Laughlin from the University of California have taken into account the age, size, temperature, mass of celestial bodies and fitness for human life. It turned out that the Earth is worth five quadrillion dollars. The neighboring system of the planet because of its uncomfortable climate was much cheaper.

So the future colony of humans — Mars — yet costs only $14 thousand. Why so short? Probably because the head of the person who appeared on this planet without a spacesuit, may explode. But on Venus the climate is even worse, so its price and is equal to zero.

The cost of 1235 extrasolar planets discovered over the past three years with the help of telescope NASA "Kepler" and is considered more or less suitable for a person, not too high. For example, the price of the planet Gilese 581 c, considered recently the most similar in conditions to Earth, was only $150, while KOI 326.01 is $250 thousand. The Professor concluded that planets with a price tag of at least $90 million to study is not worth.

Are you talking about the Terrans from Starcraft?

Nice post @krasotka. Thanks for sharing.

If Earth is worth 5 quadrillion dollars, and it is divided evenly between all members of said planet, we each would receive 680,549.88 (six hundred and eighty thousand five hundred and fourty nine dollars and eighty eight cents). That is based off of 2015 earth population of 7.347 billion humans. Maybe we can increase the value of Earth by terraforming the ocean into habitable land. It would be much easier than making mars habitable.
