Lived experience.

You know how when you're discussing something about society at large, where there's quantifiable, publicly available and relevant data that you're using... and someone responds with what their "lived experience" is as a counter... and your mind automatically translates "lived experience" to "anecdote(s) that may or may not be true" and therefore something that can be dismissed out of hand?

What are other types of phrases that have a similar effect? Is there a word for such phrases, like... terminology as a turn-off?

Not exactly analogous, but I had another weird terminology thing today... Someone used the word "scab" while talking about union things.

My first thought was, like... "What, are you gonna bring back the word dame next? Buster? You gonna say something is swell or the bees knees?"

But my second was the realization that the word scab to them meant something akin to "class traitor", while to me it evoked something more like "someone having the courage to do what they think is best for themselves and their family despite pressure and intimidation from union thugs that want them to get back in line". Like... My brain read the label with a positive connotation.

And, you know... I'm pretty pro private sector union. I think private sector unions historically have done some really good things, and there's times that call for most workers to join a strike for good reasons. But... the coercion tactic used against someone for an individual choice, especially coupled with threats or violence, still rankles me plenty.
