One person's trash is the other's trophy

his is evident from the popularity of platforms such as Marktplaats and clothing exchange fairs.
What you are tired of, someone else can find beautiful. So you can also earn a nice penny on objects that you want from or buy something great cheaply. A real win-win situation! Do you want to know something about the advantages and the possibilities of second-hand?

Second-hand, one loves is, the other hate it. What is there to say for it? Well, to begin with, there is far too much new production, while on the other side of the spectrum (old) a lot remains. This is partly because the materials (such as plastic) are basically made to last, but the products are not always.

We also simply get bored with that dress or that sofa, or due to an upcoming change in your family situation, the bed no longer fits in your new home and fits those nice pants you no longer. Throw away then, and buy new? Sin, right! Many of these products can be recycled, but that also takes time, a lot of energy and raw materials.
(Reuse) is then actually the perfect solution. What can you do against it? Unfortunately, that is often a cultural characteristic. 'New' means better, fresh.
The technique is newer so it works better. It is faster, more beautiful, hipper and: it is normal to buy new! But 'new' is also usually more expensive, worse for the environment, and certainly not always better working!

Sometimes the only thing 'old' needs is finding the right person, and sometimes some time, attention and love to recover completely.

this is so true.....consumerism is so contagious in out society today. its sad to see we are a throw away population......i have found many treasures in 2nd hand stores. One app i use all the time is Letgo. it is a local website that matches buyer and sellers of used items. I have gotten rid of my clutter and found many useful things i need there. check it out.

Never heard of this app, I wil check it for sure!

a simply awesome way to get things and save as well! One of my fave things to do!

I think this tests our creativity and how lazy we (I) have become. Re-using, re-cycling, up-cycling ..... whatever we choose to call it will become increasing essential as the original resources become more and more scarce. We should celebrate and encourage those with creativity and I for one need to learn from them
