I have been to three countries this year after not traveling internationally in more than 15 years,. Now living in a foreign country where I don’t speak the language I am using this time as a chance to submerge myself in personal reflection.
Almost like a time out from the worries and the stresses of life. Not exactly an Eat, Pray, Love journey but nonetheless it has been an experience that has impacted me in nothing but positive ways,. Living just a mile away from the Mandalay Bay and looking back on the night of the shooting, I was living in fear of the unknown. Dramatically aware of how unsafe the world can be. That night changed me and when compounded with the negative side affects of my military career I have been guilty of drawing in the walls around me.
My wanderlust is so much more than fulfilling my dreams of traveling to other countries and experiencing other cultures. It has brought me a stronger connection to the world and negated my fear of being out in it. Not totally there yet but I am calling this my #TrippingThroughMySeoulProject (You can find me on Instagram as well) and what I hope to gain by the end of this experience is a new way to look at the world around me, gain prespective and return to myself. We don’t realize how living in fear of the unknown truly does steal memories and precious time away from us. We are pummeled with news of mass shootings almost everyday,. This strikes a cord in us that violence can happen in our own backyards. Fear makes you forget who you are and holds you prisoner to the complete unknowns. So I will encourage you to both Find and Live Your Truest Wanderlust. You may just stumble into finding yourself in the midst of the chaos of your minds creation. You do not have to live cloaked in fear. Wanderlust is more than just stamps in your passport. The sculpture in this photograph to me embraces just that, I took multiple shots of it from different angles, standing in front of it just made me feel free,. #OrigionalArt #LiveYourWanderlust
