Llueve sobre los nidos de las aves rezagadas
que tiritaron antes de morir cuando el otoño y el invierno
se aproximaban de la mano por el horizonte…
para dialogar durante largos meses de melancolía…
Llueve sobre el pequeño universo de cal agrietada,
de portones de umbral musgoso
y ventanales de hierros en cruz.
Sobre las cuadras y sus enseres de otras épocas
mucho más primitivas que la actual.
Sobre los árboles y sus estrías.
Llueve sobre el ocre de los campos y el gris de alguna ciudad
o alguna montaña en el horizonte.
Sobre la triste procesión del río yendo a besar al océano
y el fúnebre mecer de los arbustos.
Llueve sobre los flemáticos bancos de piedra
y sobre las gélidas y marmóreas tumbas del cementerio.
Sobre la vida muerta del lugar llueve
y todos esos susúrros del firmamento se hilan
para envolver las moradas en silencio
y exhalar humedad al interior,
apresando el alma moribunda de aquellas estancias heladas.
Llueve sobre mí,
Aquí tremulante, abrazado a la intemperie de sombras,
ovillado sobre un lecho de sábanas
yertas, mojadas, adormecidas
en arrugas serpenteantes…
