Replacing "the economy" with "yacht money" - Anti Lockdown movement in a nutshell.

There's an odd thing I've noticed over the past year:

Supporters of the lockdowns (primarily on the Left) have criticised opponents of the lockdowns as only concerned about rich people. A popular meme has been "replace 'the economy' with 'yacht money' and see how silly the anti-lockdown movement is!"

But then, the same people complain that Jeff Bezos and more recently Elon Musk, getting insanely wealthy from the lockdowns while small businesses die.

Thus, we have a paradox: these Left critics both supposedly oppose the massive wealth increases of the wealthy and destruction of the poor while loudly supporting the very system that increases the wealth of the wealthy and destroys the wealth of the poor. They oppose the repeal of the very system that is creating "yacht money".

This is part of a larger problem the Left in particular has with scientific reasoning. The Left engages heavily in scientism. We tend to see the Left treat science as rhetorical tools and blunt objects rather than a systematic process for considering the world around us. There's almost no consistency in thought process. Just going from one rhetorical statement to the next regardless of whether or not they are contradictory or even consistent.

I should note that there is a correlation between how Left a person is and scientism. The further Left they are, the more scientism exists. It is especially bad among self-described socialists, democratic socialists, and "I fucking love science" group followers. There is less of a correlation on the Right. The Right tends to be amazingly consistent in their reasoning. Wrong, but consistent. The Right tends to keep their assumptions and chains of reasoning consistent both over time and from topic to topic whereas the Left tends to just pull whatever rhetorical statement they want to support their given case. To be clear, there is still a correlation between more extreme Right views and scientism, but it's considerably weaker.
