In order to get the most out of the lockdown tutorials you learn in step one, you need to go through the tutorial in depth and learn how to do the move. It doesn't take an Einstein to make it happen!
After you've done that, the next thing you need to do is really work the movement all the way so that you can do it easily. This is the step that most people miss when learning to lock.
You really don't want to be in the situation where you are making the move and have to think for centuries about how to do it. Unless you are blocking movement while you are thinking, because then you are still locking, in fact, locking happened in a similar way!
When you learn a movement thoroughly, you become much more comfortable doing it. Once you can switch from one part of the movement to another and can do it easily, start repeating it a few times in a row again.
If it is an exhaustive movement, take breaks after several eighths of repetition before starting again, otherwise you can continue for a few minutes. For example, when you clap with simple hands or locks, you can repeat the movements for longer because they are quite easy to do.
Once you are comfortable with the movements themselves, you should familiarize yourself with the links to other movements. If you don't, then when you start locking it will look like you are exercising if you do the same movement over and over for five minutes!
Start working with other movements that you know and try to figure out how you would come out of one movement and start the next. Then you start to dance rather than doing unique moves.
Once you can set up the moves, it's important to start using your own ideas. Customize the movements as you like and even add steps as you dance. Remember the moves are just a starting point, just keep going from there and start trying different things!
