Loneliness refers to a condition when a person feels alone and unaccompanied, lonely in a crowd, and feels unwanted in an association. Loneliness can happen to anyone, teenagers, young adults, to the elderly, for various reasons. Social isolation and loneliness can also harm brain health and are linked to poorer cognitive function and a higher risk of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. In contrast to mental illnesses such as depression, social isolation often doesn't recognize loneliness. There are several ways to overcome loneliness:
- Make peace with yourself
- Make a plan to get rid of loneliness
- Call other people
- Reunion
- Join the community
- Reading book
- Learn new things
- Deepen the hobby
Feelings of loneliness are generally due to a state of mind. While not always bad, loneliness can cause people to feel empty and unwanted. People who feel lonely often crave human contact, but their state of mind makes it more difficult to form relationships.
