I pulled back on death's head

in longing •  5 years ago

I wanted to see the whites of its eyes, even though they were menacing.
Like a dog, the nearest animal to us.
The iris so big, it looked like there was no cornea.
But the dog being so close us, allowed me to see its whites.
This death Creature's whites were not forlorn..not longing at all, longing only to kill and kill again.
No matter how hard I pulled back on its forehead, the pressure did not stop its pigeon head movement.
Every back and forth motion meant another life lost.
I was dangerously close to its razor like beak, but it was not meant for me. It was not yet my time.
