Snow Melting Continues Chilly Through Weekend
The weekend can't get underway fast enough after the week we have had. At least when you have a foot and a half of new snow on the ground this time of year it tends to disappear rather fast or at least faster than it would in February. If it were only a bit warmer. We are chilly this morning with temperatures in the 30s and highs today should reach the mid 40s but they will be capped there thanks to clouds. You can see what looks like an arm of clouds to the northeast on the satellite picture below. Upper air disturbances will be rotating back westward today keeping us cloud cover, capping temperatures in the mid 40s, and we run the risk of a rain or snow shower this afternoon and evening. Some more snow will disappear today.

For the time being the radars are quiet but look for some scattered precipitation to develop to our north later this morning and this afternoon. A few spots on Long Island may see the stray flurry or raindrop. The best chances for that will be probably between 2pm and 8pm.
As far as the weekend is concerned it is basically wash rinse repeat for the next two days with chilly mornings in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Some sunshine to start the day will give way to clouds and the chance for a rain or snow shower. Highs both Saturday and Sunday will likely be in the mid 40s.
We will still see the chill linger Monday into Tuesday but temperatures should start trending higher later in the week and we should see 50s Wednesday and Thursday depending on the sea breeze which will come front and center from now through June. The next chance for any rain will come late next week and the pattern overall remains cold. Hopefully the #foureaster was a last horrah for winter but don't be shocked if one more opportunity for snow shows up in the next few weeks.
