Daddy Longlegs Risk Life ... and Especially Limb ... to Survive

He just release his own Longlegs to escape and to survive. Releasing his own Longlegs to survive is his only way to survive the threat of his life. Anyone can relate to what he was doing because if you really wanted to survive and still want to live because you still love your life, you will do everything even if that means you need to sacrifice something. I know it is hard for him to sacrifice one of his Longlegs but he has no choice but to let it go just to survive.
