Thinking Long-Term and The Clock of The Long-Now

We often think that we genuinely think long-term.

I mean I think that I know where I'll be the next year or two...

Although, when it comes to our actions and the actions of civilization, we need to reevaluate our thought processes.

With one of the crucial high leverage skills being time management, it only makes sense what occurs during your time is important and the ramifications of those actions are understood.

Until we realize that everything we do has ramifications, we can't truly make an impact.

Thinking Incredibly Long-Term and The Clock of The Long-Now

The Clock of The Long-Now is a concept and book by Stewart Brand.

This book is one that seriously opened my eyes.

We often like to stay in our little bubble of thought, of how we affect the things that are close to us and how that ripples to just the outskirt of our bubble.

On the other hand, we need to look deeper.

A lot deeper.

Gary Vaynerchuk often talks about why is constantly working and where the passion comes from.

That being making a positive impact and building a name that lasts for generations.

Most of us do things that, if stuck with us forever, would be used against and not FOR us.

Which is a problem.

What you do today, what you do tomorrow and what you continue to do over and over again is so important. Whatever it is will compound and build throughout the eons left for this world.

Take your actions and let them speak loud, but think of their long-term impact.

That's my challenge for you this week.

Think long and hard about what you are doing, what you want in life, and how getting/doing everything will affect the next 1000 years of this earth.

Think incredibly long-term

Sounds like a good book. Will check it out.

It's an important subject at a time when everything seems to be centred around short attention spans and short term consequent thinking. We need more focus on the long term impact of our decisions and actions.

Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! Yeah it really is so important to understand time and what will happen from our actions today. Thanks for the comment man!
