Lonely People

There are way too many lonely people out in the world. What is the cause of this? Loneliness can be self-inflicted and caused by other people. The most common is probably the former.

I grew up a loner. I had large family, and was involved in after school activities, but still I was lonely. The root of loneliness isn't that of not having people around you, but it is about being around people that would acknowledge you for the character that is within you.

We are afraid of our weaknesses, so we mask our identities with things that can make us more popular, or liked. We mask ourselves with stuff that brings us success: athletics, knowledge, or money. The reality is we are just as messed up as anyone else. Our story may be different, one person may be able to count off more tragic events or adversities, but really why take the time to count our trash? Do we really have to compete for whose life is hardest? In those times you are just hiding your identity behind the very thing you don't like about yourself.

In my experience when I found people that embraced the identity within me, I became free. My freedom wasn't based upon failures and success but truly just who I was. It takes a single person to let you be who you really are, to be who you really are for a lifetime.
