If my only exercise is walking, can I lose weight? Catherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. Answer from
Depending on how long you walk, how long you walk, and what your diet looks like, you may be able to lose weight this way.
The combination of physical activity and calorie restriction seems to help you lose weight more than exercise alone.
Physical activity, such as walking, is important for weight management as it helps burn calories. Adding a 30-minute walk to your daily routine can burn about 150 calories per day. The faster you walk and the faster you walk, the more calories you burn naturally.
However, balance is important. Overdoing it increases the risk of muscle aches, injuries and burnout. If you are not accustomed to regular exercise, you should start with a short or low intensity walk and gradually increase to a longer or more moderate or intense intensity.
After losing weight, exercise becomes even more important. It helps maintain weight. In fact, studies show that people who maintain weight loss for long periods of time engage in regular physical activity.
So go ahead, but also make sure you eat healthy
