Teddy bear waffles!!! The world is a better place when you add some whimsy and Bob's Big Boy Burgers in Burbank did not disappoint. After a couple of hours dancing at the silent disco with R, we were not ready to call it quits for the night. I wanted a soda fountain where I can go nuts. I had chocolate colas. Two or maybe three. With a paper straw. (Plastic straws are illegal in California.) Next time, I will try vanilla or cherry.

At the moment, I was so happy. I didn't think forward enough to know all that caffeine would keep me up. I was a bouncy happy JNET. I didn't know that in a couple of days, I would find myself in bed, relieved that my flamenco teacher texted me to say no class this week. I was too tired to do all my physical therapy exercises. I opted to soak in the tub.

Monday, I felt in good spirits and chose to be gentle with my body. Maybe not gentle enough. K came over for a surprise visit to say goodbye. He's moving across the country next week to start a new job in DC. He took me out for sushi and we did several celebratory sake shots.

We celebrated so much that I am now sitting in my pajamas nursing some Thai soup on an early afternoon hoping to be well enough to travel to San Diego for the weekend. I'm sniffling and feverish with a headache. I had prided myself from sidestepping every flu or cold that passed my way. I thought I was invincible.

I'm not as invincible as I thought. I'm on the mend and cancelled all teaching for the rest of the week. I think God is telling me to slow down.

Slow down it is. And back to bed I go.
