Hey guys, So I guess I am having an identity crisis. It kinda sucks to be in this position. Well here is a little background about me-doing my bachelor's in computer science , have a pretty decent gpa, have had internships and career wise, I seem to be pretty well set but I don't know if I want to code for my entire life.
I want to go in cyber security but no company will give me a chance because all my coursework and internship experience is in software Engineering. At the same time,I just wanna get done with this academia and 9-5 BS and wanna try stand up. I know it takes time for something like that to work and I don't even know if I am gonna be successful at it but I know I would love to do it. I still want to play safe and graduate but it's a big decision because my parents paid for my college and it seems super selfish of me to graduate and start doing stand up comedy.
I am pretty sure all or some of you have gone through this phase. Any advise would be helpful.I like software Engineering and I am pretty good at it too but I feel I am more passionate about cyber security and stand up comedy is no where close to the other too because I am really passionate about it but I don't wanna disappoint my family, girlfriend and friends.
Well.. maybe get a job in software engineering and see if you can do some education in cyber security on evenings? Or do stand up comedy on evenings as a hobby and see how it goes?
Doing an education next to a job will be demanding though. It'll take time and energy, be sure to take that into account.
