A lot has changed since then
I want you to know
Every single time I didn’t reach out to you,
I almost did

It took everything I was and all the strength I didn’t have to stay away,
For it was better for us both

To kill the dreams that we once shared and everything we were,
For I knew we’d only destroy each other

I wasn’t strong, I was just broken,
For everything I had was you, yet you were mine no longer.

So many times, I wanted to speak to you,
I wanted you to know how I still loved you,
I wanted to know how you were doing and hear your voice

So many times,
I broke in tears thinking of everything we had,
Of everything, all we’ll never get to be

Thinking of all the chances we never got to take,
Of everything we had yet to live together, of all the love we still shared

It wasn’t that I didn’t care
I damn straight loved you, with everything I was
Hell, deep within my love for you still lives,
I’ll always love you, as you’re a part of me now

In a way, I’ll always wonder
What could have been
What we missed when we took different paths

I’ll wonder where we would have gotten with this
How our home would have looked like,
How we’d have named our children or how you’d have looked as a bride
It’s true, I’ll wonder.
