Daily Wisdom: I have loved you with everlasting love, I have drawn you with unfailing kindness

Jeremias is one of the major prophets in the bible, a book that bears his name is attributed to him. Jeremias is an oracle, through his visions he prophesies the destiny of Israel. It is because of these visions and because of the warning to the kings of Judah of imminent punishment because the people had hardened their hearts towards God, that he announces the arrival of the King of Babylon. The king of Judah ignores the oracle's warnings, burns his writings and subjects him to persecution. This is why Jeremias is known as the suffering servant. His writings were given on three reigns, the reign of Josias, Joachim and Sedecias until the deportation of Jerusalem.
God is perfect, it is wrong to attribute our imperfections to God: "His works are perfect", Deuteronomy 32:4; when the bible speaks to us of the wrath of God, it does so metaphorically. God is a wise ("In wisdom you have made them all", Psalm 104:24) and a provident god, explains the prophet Jeremiah; and it is because of this eternal wisdom of God that he loves us with a perfect love, the love without passion: "I have loved you with everlasting love, I have drawn you with unfailing kindness", Jeremiah 31:3.

The bible reminds us that men are responsible for their sins and for the consequence of living according to error. The book of psalms reminds us that there are two ways and two rewards (Psalm 1). We can't expect good things if we go the wrong way. The prophet Jeremiah in the face of the destruction of the Kingdom of Judah and the exile of the survivors to Babylon, announces good times for the future if the people turn to their hearts to God and get back on the right path. The hope for a better future is not lost. Fate exists, and prophet Jeremias reminds us that oracles, through a particular knowledge of invisible realities, have the mission of correcting people from the path of error.
