The definition and meaning of unconditional love according to the bible. Examples with commentary.

Unconditional love is the love that comes from wisdom. Thomas Aquinas does not explain to us that God is love but that God is the wisdom itself, in God wisdom is both substance and essence. Wisdom is the essence of God because it is his main characteristic and it is his substance because to speak of wisdom is to speak of God. Wisdom is before love because to love something you have to know it first. Because God is wise he loves good.
The gospels remind us that Jesus is the personification of that love: "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." 1 John 4:10.

Unconditional love is love without passion, that is, love free from fear, guilt, shame, hatred: "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear has to do with punishment" 1 John 4:18.
Unconditional love forgives everything, supports everything, the bible describes it like this: "Charity is patient, charity is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self- seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs", 1 Corinthians 13:4.
An example of this love in the bible is the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32), a rich man has two children and one asks him in advance for the inheritance, to live an easy and luxurious life; the father tells him that he cannot follow that path, as a consequence there is aversion, that is, rejection of the life of sin. The son goes with the inheritance to another country, he wastes the money and when hunger strikes, he regrets and he decides to return. When he returns home, the aversion ceases and the love bond is re-established. Unconditional love makes forgiveness possible. Sin does not affect unconditional love, it simply distorts the love bond. This is how God's love works, God is that father who patiently awaits our change towards a new and renewed heart, we are all sinners but we can all receive forgiveness to reach salvation.
