So true. We are no longer important to our governments or politicians. Now they are going into self survival mode and grabbing as much money of its citizens for themselves.

When it comes down to the nitty gritty level, it is the politicians / government behind it.
As there is an infinite number of possibilities of why to become a soldier, then later on, one might not have an option, specially when ruled !

Hey, you got it all backwards. As far as I know there’s no forced conscription in most western countries. Going abroad to serve the corrupt corporations and politicians is one’s personal choice, and there are other avenues to making a living. What happens later, when you pay the price of that choice, is just a form of evolutionary meritocracy.
Of course, if you’re talking about places like North Korea, then it’s a horse of another color.
