Is It Shocking That I Love My Wife?

in love •  7 years ago

The world seems to get stranger and stranger each and every year. It's not that I'm old as shit and remember when loaves of bread were 10 cents or anything. I have however noticed over my 32 years of age that it's become more and more common for people to choose poor relationships. I say "poor" because I'm not sure of what it is that actually makes these relationships not last. I mean there is a divorce every 2 minutes in the USA. This is absurd, why do you not love your spouse, what happened that made this so bad. Is everyone just a big baby now? Every little problem you just ran away and find someone else? Or is it all based too much off of the media and how they make everything about sex?

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it? I do know one thing though @lyndsaybowes I'm not going anywhere, I love you more then anything in this world. The vows I gave you were real, unwritten and from my heart and soul. When I made my choice that you were the one I made that choice. It wasn't based on a fun evening out, a good bang in the sack, too many beers or because it's the normal thing to do. I made the choice because of how I felt, how I feel.

I love my wife because I enjoy her as a person, as a companion, a partner. She's someone to give or receive empathy with.
Someone who truly cares about your problem pain or suffering. I know this because like all relationships these waters have been tested.

I'm writing this blog to share my love of my wife with you. In hopes that more men will do the same. It doesn't make you less of a man to share feelings of love with your or about your wife or anyone at all in that matter.

Love you SiSTAR!!!

These adorable photos made the piece :) It's tragic isn't it? Everyone has become so cynical. I was riding up and elevator in New Orleans when a couple joined on the next floor. We were generally talking and the man asked if we were all having fun in New Orleans before we asked how his day was going. He said, "My day was amazing. I got to spend it with this beautiful girl right here," referring to the beaming woman at his side. I smiled and said, "And that's all you need in this world." He nodded and said, "Exatcly. I don't need money or anything else you can imagine except this woman right here." I hope everyone gets to feel like that once in their lives.

Beautiful tale @sarahtops9000! Thank you so much for sharing, it gave me goosebumps!

Yes it's very tragic! Cool experience you had in the elevator. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you enjoyed this and the photos. Love is everything!

You guys are precious :')

Thanks @fungusmonk means a lot

Good stuff!

I think a lot of people get into marriage on a wave of emotion (passion! love! sex!) and don't really think about all the other important stuff: friendship, companionship, compatible skills, business sense, attitude to kids, etc. Then that first flush of excitement burns off and they're left wondering why they did it.

It's obvious you guys got into this for all the right reasons.

The Wife and I recently celebrated 20 years, which came as a shock to both of us. Good thing we're still best friends.

You're are absolutely right my friend. I think the biggest part of the relationship is being best friends. Looking forward to spend time with each other not time apart!

Congrats on 20 years, that's awesome!

Thanks! It goes by fast, you'll see!

Congrats on your 20 Winston! :) I'm so happy you are best friends! Always makes my day to hear of true, unconditional love.
