Appreciation Post - To Awesome Steemians

in love •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hi everyone. You may or may not know - I've been under @maverickinvictus mentorship for the past 2 weeks. In case you don't know him ( whaaat? :) ), Maverick writes about tips and tricks to help fellow Steemians, stories and learnings from his experiences, opinions about current subjects, games, literature, the charity he works with, and other meaningful subjects. Besides being a great writer and content creator, he's an awesome person that's willing to stop whatever he's doing to help you, answer your questions and support you. He didn't even pay me to write this! Haha

I'm writing this post to show my appreciation for Steemians I interacted with, but also share some of the learnings from these 2 past weeks.

The Library of Infinite Knowledge

It's an awesome Google Spreadsheet with useful links about Fiction, Poetry, Non-fiction and Design. I've been slowly going through the Fiction section, as I want to learn as much as possible before I publish my next fiction story.

There's a bell icon on the top right part on Discord that disables notifications for channels, unless you're directly mentioned.

I needed this, I haven't noticed it before :). THANK YOU!

DBooks is a new Steem platform to publish books and chapters

SteemGigs is a new Steem platform for freelance work. Super cool!

I was inspired by maverick's wonderful posts

Like his "Ten Things I love About Steemit", in which I can relate so much. I'm also working on my own post about the subject.

I could also inspire

With my post about Saudade . I loved his own take on it: He wrote a beautiful post about first love and how he feels saudade when he thinks about it. It's a really sweet and beautiful text that you can read here

I also got to meet and engage

With so many great and kind people - those who came across my profile from Mave's mentions or resteems.

It's unfortunate that the mentorship got to an end but I'm sure he will have so much to offer to other newbies out there.

I will also use this post to thank and appreciate some other people from this amazing platform. I couldn't tag everyone, but just wanted to show a bit of appreciation.

@leeart @freedomshift for mentioning me in their #payitforward post and for all the support/feedback ; @maverickinvictus for being the greatest mentor ever and for all the support given! @awakentolife to believe in this Steemian newbie and be the reason why I got my curie upvote :D Will be forever thankful. @glenalbrethsen for the thoughtful comments ; @chinosky for being one of the first Steemians I interacted with ; @loudetteiam for being such a cute pie and being so supportive. @vesnapv for the appreciation and for getting inspiration from my Saudade post. @mesapronta for ser a melhor mãe!! @mrg for everything possible and impossible <3 @lynncole1 for recommending me to the amazing community of @asapers, and asapers for their amazing curation work - also for mentioning me in their Issue #41 @insideoutlet @wanderlass for sharing their deep meaningful selves on my latest post.

@newbieresteemday and @minnowsupport for supporting the newbies out there, including me. @surpassinggoogle , for being such an awesome curator and frequently upvoting my posts! @hr1 for being behind my post's upvotes since the start. Thank you for your appreciation! @hendrikdegrote for being the whale that upvoted my dog's post. @curie for being such an amazing inspiration to all of us - motivating Steemians to be creative and post amazing content.

.. and many more!

If you've ever read, commented, upvoted or reestemed any of my posts, I'M SO THANKFUL TO YOU! :) Have a lovely day and weekend!

Awww thank you for the mention. Only thing I did was find an amazing author who deserved the award and I was more than happy I got the opportunity to do. Curie is an amazing program and I hope in the future there will even more program like it. I think what they are doing for Steemit community and great authors like is what Steemit, in general, should be about. And, that is rewarding great content. :)

I hope to see even more amazing content from you in the future. And, I am sure I will. :)

Have an amazing day. :)

Thank you for mentioning my post to the curators! It really helped my motivation a lot and I'm so grateful for people like you, that find content and give value to it. Yes, it is amazing! I can see there're more and more curator communities on Steemit, which is amazing. Totally agree! I love Steemit for the great content and great creators :)

Thank you so much. I will keep doing my best! :) Have an amazing day yourself!!

Well it is because you are an awesome person Juli and I am proud that you were the first person that I formally mentored. Although to be honest I don't think I taught you much as we mostly chatted about stuff hahha.

I always love to showcase your work because it is so good! You are simply a joy to read, or sometimes heavy depends on what you write hahaha.

I am so thankful for meeting you and will continue to be there for you.

Aww thank you Mave! I'm glad I found you and that you accepted to be my mentor. It was great to be mentored by you and I hope we can keep in touch. For me, you will be always my mentor! :)
Hahah I hope heavy in a good way?? I'm trying to think of 'lighter' subjects but my ideas are always deep and kinda heavy hehee
Thank you once more!!! :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I didn't know about dbooks... I will be checking it out now!

Thank you for mentioning us in your awesome post @julimattos - yoy may be a few points over our 45 rep and under but you've written a post which is super helpful to all newbies and for that we are giving you an upvote&resteem!
~ABC's of Curation member @amariespeaks

Thank you for all your support! I guess it will be time to pass on the NewbieResteemDay 'ball' to awesome newbies out there, as I'm over the 45 rep rule :) Please continue supporting minnows and great content. Thank you!

I'm glad the mentoring with @maverickinvictus went well (where does the time go) and that you've felt you've been benefited from it. He is very much a conscientious, knowledgeable and all around awesome person. Don't tell him that, though. He doesn't need to know I said that.

Oh, wait. I tagged him. On a blockchain. Oh, well.

So, what's next? Any big plans?

Haha Right! I don't know where does time go, I keep trying to get a hold of it but it's always faster than me. Yes, Mave is an awesome person and it was great to have him as a mentor. Hahah I swear I don't tell! :))
Oh, damn. I guess he knows by now? hehe
Well, I'm just going to keep writing posts and my grand goal is to publish a fictional story split in chapters. Otherwise, just keep learning. :)

Oh, nice. What kind of fiction? I've been doing something similar with a previously unpublished (and currently unfinished) novel I started (and stopped writing) four years ago.

It's a sci-fi futuristic fiction story. I'm working on the 'skeleton' of the story at the moment, but a bit scared of the narrative/literature part of it. Oh wow, you should work on it and post it! Would love to read it. What kind of fiction is it? :)

It's already posting. It has a working title of The Maya and it's kind of a mixture of things, with some contemporary fantasy, I guess. If it were a movie or television show it would probably fall under the category of drama. It might actually be speculative fiction. I've always had a problem classifying what I write because they don't ever seem to fit in any particular genre. If you know what genre you're writing in, you're better off, I think!

Future sci-fi. So, on earth? In space? And future, are we talking dystopian?

Oh wow, there're 32 posts already! I just read the first The Maya and it sounds very interesting :) Will continue reading and hopefully be able to caught up. Yeah, it's good to know the genre, I guess :)
It's on Earth, don't think we're talking of dystopian. I'd say it's like a fantasy-sci-fi type of thing!

Well, cool. In my experience, the concept always pops in first, and then the angle or the the things that make sense to you drop in and give it legs. The more you let it simmer in your head, the easier things tend to be when you actually sit down and write. That's how it works for me anyway. I try not to make a chore out of it. Then, it's not fun. :)

These are really great pointers that I have to look into soon. I feel like I’m a baby minnow in a sea of whales and sharks sometimes: so it’s good to read something positive. Stay positive and thanks for sharing this.

I hope you find them useful! If you focus on being positive and achieving your own goals, everything else will be easier :) Thank you for commenting!

Great post, @julimattos.
It appears you have learned quite a lot from your mentor.
And thanks for the tips. There were a couple of sites I hadn’t heard of before

Thank you @simplymike ! I did learn a lot from him. All the tips are things I learnt and that I wanted to share. I hope you find the links useful! :)

You're really amazing for showing the gratitude to all showed support to you @julimattos
And the article is helpful with the tools. Thank you

Aw, thank you! I think it's incredible when people support each other. I couldn't be more grateful for the kindness I've been finding on Steemit. I hope the tools help you. :)

Always a good thing to show gratitude @julimattos.

I am glad @asapers has been amazing to you.

@asapers is an amazing community! Thank you so much @mirrors :)

I agree. And it has you all who make it such a wonderful place. I am proud to be a member.

Steem on, @julimattos.

You have had a great start to Steemit, we are glad to have you as part of the @asapers community. @lynncoyle1 does rock at finding us good talent. I look forward to more of your work. See you around the blockchain.

I've found a home on Steemit, a place I can be myself and just be happy. People here are so nice and kind it's overwhelming - in an awesome way! Thank you for appreciating my content and for your comment. It means a lot to me! :)

Not sure on dbooks now. They supposedly launched their Beta on the 17th, yet have not posted on Steemit since - nor have they had a single post on Discord since then - until I posted today anyway. No reply as of yet. I'm hopeful, but I'm worried that they're not serious enough to see this one through. :-(

Oh dear. Did you find out more about it?? I was going to use it for my fiction story, after I publish it on Steemit. I hope they're serious and keep working on it, as it's such an awesome idea. I've seen a few books published there, but it looks very beta at the moment.

I am in (slow) conversation with them at the moment, thankfully. I've signed up, but hit a bug almost immediately - which they know about now. So, hopefully!!!

They "rent" the books out - for free if we are also publishing on Steemit, but I think we can change it after we're done with our earnings on steemit. It definitely is looking promising.

I did read somewhere that they could not handle images in the separate posts, but this has turned out to be out-of-date or incorrect information. It's worth taking a look at the current offerings there to get a feel. My main question that has yet to be answered is whether a chapter on there can be (easily) split into multiple posts on Steemit. My chapters tend to be longer than what I feel comfortable doing for a single Steemit post, but it doesn't change the fact that the chapters are what they are and will need to be published in tact...

Anyway, lots to learn still, but it's looking good now.

Oh wow, that sounds like a lot of learning. It also seems like it needs a lot of progress from their side to be made. I'm glad they replied to you and hope it keeps being developed.

That's what @maverickinvictus suggested to me - to add the chapters in there, when the 'chapters' on Steemit were over a week, so no more earnings. If that's true, then it's indeed really promising.
Hmmm... Yeah, that's a good question. I still didn't get the chance to explore it too much but I definitely need to research more about it.

What type of book are you working on? Would love to have a peek! :)

I will do a post about dbooks when they're properly working for me. :-)

As for my writing, please check out the rest of my blog. I'm on part 11 of Friendship on Fire. There are also 5 parts of Rebound of Power which is set immediately before Friendship on Fire. When This one is done, there will be another 5 parts of Rebound of Power, as it's designed to wrap around four novellas to make it into one larger book - my solution for the problem of "far too long for a short story and far too short for a novel."

The series is mainly romance, but has large elements of: fantasy, sci-fi, action and adventure. Still a fairly feminine read, my husband tells me, but with enough oomph in there to (mostly) keep the guys interested too!

Those are great people you mentioned there and I have interacted with some of them. They are indeed an inspiration. I applaud every one of them for continuing to be a support and kind people. Cheers! You are doing well here in steemit. You got the right people behind your back.

They're indeed great people! You're also a great and inspirational person. I wouldn't know a lot of things I know about Steemit today, if it wasn't for your comments and suggestions. So thank you so much for that.
Cheers! Have a wonderful day :)

It's just knowledge I learned from most of the people you mentioned :D It is but proper to let others know, too :)

Aw!?! Thank you so much Juli for the mention. Everyone loves to support you because you are not just kind and beautiful but also a very good content creator. You've got your own style of writing.
So you are into fiction stories now. I will be looking forward to reading those. :-)

Aww thank you, my dear!! I relate a lot to what you write and to your personality, it's a wonderful thing to be supportive of each other :) I'm sooo happy that you like my content.
Yes! I'm getting a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this fiction story. I'm no novel writer, so I'm really scared! haha :))

Aww... we probably are soulmates because I can relate to your writings as well.

I don't know if I should advise you not to be scared since I am also a scared cat. LOL! But I would love to read your story and support you. Goodluck on your fiction story Juli.

AWE I'm glad you can relate! and thank you!!! :D We're both scared cats hehe :) xxx

You mentioned some of the people I had on my list of inspiring people on Steemit. They certainly brighten our days ;0)

I would love to see your list of inspiring people on Steemit :D Maybe you could write a post about it, if you don't mind sharing. They do brighten our days, and that makes me so happy! Thank you for your comment :)

This is a great post. I am going to go thru it several times

Thank you! Hope it's useful to you!!

Thank you for mentioning me. I do not use bots or other notification mechanisms and just found out by wandering around.
But, the best "thank you" is really by "Pay It Forward". yYou have benefited from a few giants / whales, and you are growing fast - it is never too soon to "Pay It Forward".

In the end, life / we are not measured by what we gained or posses or created but by the impact we have made on others.
