What is a transsexual man? It is a person who is born with a vulva but whose brain construction is male. What is the brain construction? It is basically our personality. Everything we are is in our brain and is formed during pregnancy. Even being a man, woman or genderqueer.
So a transsexual person is born a transsexual? Yes. Like a person is born left-handed, or of small stature, or reddish hair. But just as a left-handed person is forced to write with the right, transgender people are forced to wear a gender that is not the one they were born with. Because sex is not equal to gender. Sex is what you have between your legs and gender is the one between your ears and the one that defines your behavior.
And how is transsexuality lived?
Transsexuality is experienced when we realize that we are not what we are supposed to be. And knowing it we have 2 possibilities. And only 2. Face our condition and live as transsexuals or continue living according to what we are supposed to be.
So if we choose the first option, we immerse ourselves in the trans world, where unfortunately there is no fraternity, much less. You are practically against the world.
So when you start to live according to what you are, and you recognize yourself as a transsexual man or woman, you realize that it is not enough that you know who you are so that society recognizes you as such. So you ask what it takes to be recognized? And you understand that apart from that you need physical changes, you also need to emulate the personality of the common man or woman of the country where you live, and if it is the case it is a Latin American country, the basic features do not vary much from one country to another.
The features of the common man are the following:
Rudeness
Misogyny, to a lesser or greater degree
Homophobia
Transphobia
Violence
Principal provider of the nuclear family
Main protector of the family nucleus
Adoption of leadership role
You perceive that as you emulate these behaviors society recognizes you more, then perhaps without realizing it you become the typical Latin American male who beats his partner, who insults gays, who says that transsexual women are men in disguise and So, you become one of those who violated and discriminated against you.
But is there something to be done? Is it irremediable? Can we be better? I'll tell you in my next post!
See you!!
The answer is yes, you can, and you must. All men in all countries need to do a better job of lifting up women and feminism and trans men are no exception.
In many places trans men come from queer communities and so we expect them to be better but sadly that is not always the case. Although coming up through the queer community can give a perspective to make it more likely so it is, thankfully, often the case.
