With the growing complications in human relationships, one has to wonder, is any of this worth it?
Platonic love
Platonic love is one of the best feelings out there. Hardly any commitment, not too heavy on the pocket and none of those long fights. It's like a box of sweets that takes a long long time to turn sore.
The kind that hurts
But romantic love, on the other hand, is one overrated bitch.
Sure, the first couple of months (or weeks if you are dating "that" person) are fucking amazing. The brain does it's thing and produces the right hormones to make you feel good.
But as time passes, things start to change. It just won't feel perfect anymore. And no, it never really is your fault (unless you have a side chick or a side...dick?).
And when things finally end, the broken heart always stays broken for a tad bit longer than it is supposed to.
Some turn alcoholic and some turn into work machines and stay that way for the rest of their lives.
And after a couple of goes, you gotta wonder...Is all of it worth it?
I mean, sure some people do stick together for life (yes, I'm talking about that grandpa from "Up" ) but most of us go through life from one broken relationship to another. And when things go up a notch, marriages end up failing too.
The Question
Why not just have a whole bunch of amazing friends to have fun with and a couple of FWBs?
Or should we just accept that all relationship would eventually end and let go of the idea of true love? Would love to hear your thoughts.
