Understand that some people are just the way they are. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m not saying you’re not going to hurt. Because, let’s face it, we all do. But there would be people who would just like you to understand and accept them as they are - even if it means them being bigots. It’s their choice, and they would stand by it. The best thing to do, also, is accept that they are who they choose to be. And who they choose to be, unless they choose to change, will not be able to truly understand that you, like them, would only also just want them to understand that you’re being who you are.
Love is a verb. It’s not the easiest action to do. You can fall in love with a person, but hard to fall out - unless it happens. But falling isn’t doing. Keeping the love between two people manifests from these two people who will do all efforts to keep the love. Loving is a choice. You CAN choose to love or not love a person. But, would you? Why keep yourself from loving a person you love? It’s not the simplest of actions. And the reason “because it isn’t right” has no validation, especially if it’s because “they say it isn’t right”.
Don’t force yourself to love someone you don’t. Even if it’s a choice, it’s a choice that should be EASY for you, and if it’s easy, you wouldn’t be forcing yourself into it. Don’t force yourself, and understand that you can’t force someone else to love you, either.
Don’t force yourself to NOT love a person. You’ll regret it, not being able to give that person the love you had to offer; not being able to give the love you know they deserve so much - or even when they don’t. Loving is easy. If you know it’s the right person, then it’s easy. It’s harder to stop love when it starts.
To be loved feels so beautiful, it’s a warm feeling inside you - like the first sunlight you see after days of sheer darkness or the first hug you feel after being left alone. It’s the strongest glimpse of hope that you can get in this life. It’s the strongest foundation of “I can do this.” Allow yourself to feel this love. And allow yourself to give it away.
We live in an era where too many people give themselves up, put their own emotions on the pedestal, live on the insecurity and blankness and bitterness that maybe Love. Maybe love can save us all.
