I joined steemit in March 2017 and since then I've been meeting lots of great minds. Starting steemit was really lonely because most of my business partners and friends didn't Join, they didn't believe steemit would reward original content.

Building my own community was just the way out of boredom and It took me about 2 months to build a community of 20 Nigerian steemians that I could relate to in Nigerian language. Most of these 20 steemians were not even in the same location in Nigeria with me and I knew I had to reachout to more people in my location (uyo) .

Getting people to Steemit is like giving birth because some of them will totally depend on you for every little thing, they'll ask how to upload profile pictures, how to fix cover picture and why they don't get good payouts. Suddenly I realized that telling them

steemit is a social network that pays you when you post and get likes

was the wrong message to pass to newbies because it gives them the mindset that whatever (both original and copied) they post gives good money. So I had to change my strategy. I started telling them

steemit is a social network that rewards original and quality contents, so if you want to learn how to upload your profile picture, first research on "how to upload profile picture on steemit" ", whatever you find out, practice till you get it and then write that experience on steemit, that's how you steem it.

My first definition of steemit didn't include "originality" and " research" which is the most important part to add and that is where most newbies miss it. You can't spend 1 hour on steemit and expect to earn what the guy who spent 6 hours earns. The research you do also helps you build a reading habit which could also help you stumble on interesting new things.

Few weeks later after they started making original and quality contents, payouts didn't change that much. My next thought was how to rent more steem power with my little earnings to support newbies. I didn't have huge steem power to help my community, but I had huge heart to help. The only thing I could help them with was the gospel of consistency and persistency, I kept telling them

keep making original contents and interact with other steemians and you'll get noticed.

The true expression of love is in giving. You can't love someone you don't give to, you can't stop giving to someone /people you love. I've seen great expression of love from steemit community. Love shared by @curie @surpassinggoogle @infovore @donkeypong @stellabelle @gbenga @tojukaka (through Sunday selfie) @ogochukwu (through @bluewaves) @ehiboss @ceepee @gbenga

One of such great expressions of love is seen in the visit of @ejemai to "Steemit Uyo meet-up with @ejemai ~ Decentralizing the offline through @stach". It takes a heart filled with steem love to travel for almost two hours to come teach newbies who didn't ask for your help, yes! No one in my team called @ejemai to come for our meet-up, he reached out to us and offered to set up STEEM ACCELERATOR HUB in uyo.

Another great expression of love is seen in the creation of non profit @naijaboost curating service.
