If our holiday itself wasn’t special enough, then Leon definitely made it that EXTRA special! He PROPOSED to me!

I don’t know if I should bore you with the details, or just let you watch for yourself, so I shall attach the video (that I have edited myself, so excise any hiccups) and you can read below for the small (but so amazing) details of the actual choreography of the proposal.

On 24th January 2018, at the Royalton, St Lucia, Leon got down on that lovely knee of his and asked the sweetest question.

But isn’t that Torey’s first birthday?

The answer, yes it was Torey’s first Birthday, and no this special moment didn’t take away the limelight for Torey, as he was thoroughly involved in the whole process (although he didn’t really have a choice haha)

So we decided to celebrate Torey’s first birthday, firstly a little breakfast to start, then moving onto a 10am meet up on the beach – perfect plan! So we lay down a few towels, gathered the family and commenced the traditional Happy Birthday song and present opening. Obviously myself and Leon sat with Torey while this happened, and me being me, made sure there were people taking photos and videos. Little did I know, Leon had organised a present for Torey, from himself, which I of course helped Torey find out what it was..

Much to my surprise, it was a “disguised gift” in an ASOS box (which clearly wasn’t for Torey as ASOS do not sell children’s clothes. As I opened the box and picked out the baby vest, the first word I saw printed on there was ”MARRY” and right away I KNEW that this present wasn’t actually for Torey, it was for me. As you can see in the video, I dropped in back into the box in total shock (as Torey swiftly removed it from the box onto the sand straight after – cheeky monkey).

My Mum then asked me “What does it say Sarah, show the camera”. And there is was, a vest for Torey to wear saying

Mummy, will you marry Daddy?

For a split second, I was puzzled as I didn’t know where Leon had got to, until someone shouted “Turn around Sarah”. There he was, MY LEON on one knee! I threw my head in my hands and couldn’t hold back the tears – I was over the moon, was this actually happening to ME? I looked at Leon and had never seen him so nervous in my life when off he went saying…

“Sarah Starkey, I love you, will you marry me?

He spoke so fast, I’m sure he probably wanted to say much more, but his nerves got the better of him, but most important, he got the knee right and the correct question and of course the correct answer

Oh My God, YES!!

We then obviously popped a couple of bottles of champagne and celebrated and shared our news with our loved ones back home on facetime and WhatsApp!

My life couldn’t have felt any better right then! The love of my life proposed to me, on a stunning beach, on our Son’s first birthday, in front of my beautiful family and managed to get it all on camera – let’s just say he did very well!!

I’m sorry I have taken so long to share this incredible news with you guys, but as you can imagine, returning back from a two week holiday has been manic since we touched down into the UK – I am currently on my fifth load of washing and have so much to catch up on, including sleep! So thank you for your patience!
