My father worked for several years at a state hospice in Massachusetts. He often talked about patients on their deathbed crying about the many of the bad choices they had made throughout their life. Many cried about having killed people during time of war or hurting others by having acted very egocentrically.
At the end this soul episode we call life on earth, many people realize that they lived up to many standards except their own soul's. Living in fear of disappointing their family, parents, co-workers, church, country, etc. Never really loving themselves for fear of being called selfish. How can anyone find their passion if, instead of feeding the soul, the divinity, inside of them, they are always feeding the needs of everything outside of them?
I write this as a reminder to live not by the pleasures of the five external senses or external expectations , but to trust our timeless soul and to live for the benefit of the eternal spiritual life. Listen to your heart. Let your head be your heart's assistant, not the boss. Respect all life, from the smallest insect, to the largest sea creature.
Let your legacy be one of love and respect and your last days will be filled with joy and peace.
