Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. Everyone wants to feel it and spend their lives with their loved ones. We have heard so many love stories for example. But all of us don’t get to be lucky enough. Some don’t always get to hold onto the loves of our lives. Like John Green said,”Apparently the world is not a wish-granting factory.”
One such case happened with Heather Lindsay and David Mosher whose love story will make us appreciate the valuable relationships we all have in our lives.
Heather Lindsay, 31, fighting cancer got married to David in an emotional ceremony at a hospital in Connecticut 18 hours before she died.
Heather and David met each other for the first time at swing dance class in 2015.In no time they became friends then quickly lovebirds. But when David was planning to propose Heather, she was diagnosed with cancer on 23 December 2016.
“Now more than ever, I needed for her to know that she’s not going to do this alone,” he said to ABC News remembering the moment.
“When you’re with your great love … it’s like trying to separate your arm from your body, you can’t do it. You’re connected. She was my girl,” Dave later added.
Heather had already gone through two rounds of chemotherapy and two surgeries. The cancer was in her brain and she was on life support with a breathing tube.
Finally, Dave proposed her to marry him and gathering all of her strength she said Yes. The marriage date was originally set for December 30 but as Heather’s condition got worse with every passing day, they had to prepone it to December 22.
The couple tied the knot and exchanged their vows front of family and friends inside St. Francis Hospital. Heather wore a wedding dress with an oxygen mask strapped to her face and couldn’t express her happiness.
The heart-touching photo was captured by photographer Christina Karas, who was one of her bridesmaids.
Christina said to ABC News, “That moment right there was like, ‘Death, I’m not afraid of you! I am so in love and I am going to celebrate that love right now.”
After 18 hours of the wedding, Heather passed away taking her fighting spirit with her. Dave knew that it was their last time together and according to him it was the strangest funeral he had ever been to.
‘Heather said, “I want to keep fighting,” so that’s the mantra I’m picking up. She was able to fight until the end, I’m going to fight until my end’, David told to ABC.
Their love story might not be one with a happy ending but it did prove that true love still exists and sometimes we have to celebrate our love in our little infinity.
