Overview of LoveBlock

LoveBlock’s primary concern is the protection of the tradition of “Love Locks” that are put on bridges or fences by couples with the belief that their love is unbreakable and eternal. Not only does LoveBlock tries to preserve this tradition, but also gives couples the opportunity to avail the same with an eternal approach. Again, anything that goes on the blockchain, stays there forever.

Understanding the Primary Idea
A brief of the history: The inception of the tradition of love locks dates back about 100 years to a Serbian tale of desolation, during the World War I. A local school mistress named Nada from Vrnjačka Banja fell in love with a Serbian officer, Relja. After they committed to each other, Relja went to war in Greece where he fell in love with a local woman from Corfu. Nada and Relja broke off their engagement, post which Nada died due to a heartbreak from her unfortunate love.

The tradition of locking love padlocks to the bridge was first seen on Most Ljubavi, a bridge in Vrnjačka Banja where Nada and Relja used to meet. Young women started writing down their names along with the names of their loved ones, on padlocks, and affixing them to the railings of the bridge, as a quest to protect their own loves.

The Revolutionary Replacing Solution
The primary idea behind LoveBlock is to allow couples to maintain the tradition, from the comfort of their homes, and achieve a spot on a blockchain by a truly eternal solution that allows locks to stay forever.

An additional concept is the use of the ERC721 architecture that allows creation of non-fungible tokens. This means that every token is different. Unlike ERC20 architecture based tokens, where every token is same, as in the case of, say, Ripple, ERC721 allows tokens to be different - for instance, each lock is different in terms of characteristics. This allows realisation of difference in prices for every other lock. This kind of an approach is not possible with ERC20 based tokens where the quantity you hold is what matters and every token is characterized similarly hence rendering the price as same.
