How much waste are YOU producing? Accept the challenge and find out...
"The average person produces 4.4 pounds of trash every day. Over a lifetime we are producing mountains of trash. What can we do about it? For starters, we can lead by example and be less wasteful in our individual lives. Check out the video in the comments to hear how you can help by participating in the Low Waste Lifestyle Challenge!
For one week save all the trash you produce and weigh it! Practice being more mindful with what you buy and use. At the end of the week collect all the waste, recycle when you can, and compost all organic matter! Film a video showing how little waste you produce after a week and share it with the hashtag #LowWasteChallenge
This is what we did as part of the Decentralize Your Life tour and it can have a big impact. We can help the planet without waiting for other people. Thanks"

In our village we have a whole house dedicated to storing the reusable materials that come with things we buy. Funnily enough it's mainly full of (alcohol) containers. Beer cans become air heaters, wine bottles go into walls, and glass screw top bottles get refilled with elderberry champagne, cider or some other concoction. Plastic pots for planting or storing dried herbs. One day someone might like to experiment with melting and molding the aluminium for example. Paper goes in the fire.
In terms of what we actually throw away I am certain it is lot less then most in the so-called developed world. The broken plastic bags for rice, pasta, beans etc, things that we haven't been able to grow or replace here yet and also have not found an economical solution for buying wholesale and/or package free. If roughly 75% of our meals come direct out of the garden, it doesn't leave a lot of need for packaging.
Hopefully with challenges like this we can become a little more aware of the amount of high energy materials that we abuse day to day.
I think I will elaborate this in a post..
Saludos

Producing as little trash as i can is something that have been on my mind for some time alreaddy, though I havent messured how much in total pr week. But i do not need to take out the bags each week as they dont get filled that fast, and there is recycling systems in place in Norway. But strangely enough thats the least implemented in the citys.
Plastic in unfortunately what there is the most of. So I bring a backpack and old plastic bags when i buy food, and I am now buying some plant foods directly from a farmer. And ofc bring myown reused bags for when I harvest stuff there. AS yes its the kind where I take some part in the work in the field. And insted of buying finnished made food stuffs, i make things from the bottom up and premake some stuff myself to put in the freezer.
