Luicid Dreaming and how to archiv it

in luciddreaming •  7 years ago

Hey folks,
as some of you may know there is this thing called lucid dreaming.
It's pretty simple to discribe but hard (for the most of people) to archiv it.

Lucid Dreaming, what' that about?:

Lucid dreaming simply means while you are in (mostly) REM (Rapid Eye movement) phase of your sleep you are able to get conscious of the fact that you are actually sleeping. This opens a lot of possibilities to the lucid dreamer.
Some examples of what you are able to do:

  • Flying
  • Breath under water
  • Fire a Kamehameha
  • Learn for the next examen/ Jobinterview
  • Face fears
  • Become an animal
  • Talk with you subconsciousness/ erase "failures" of your personality

Though it will only be a short introduction on how to archive it.

How to archiv it:

This is how I archived the state of lucid dreaming, I will give you some follow up links so you can decide yourself how to do it.

Start a Dreaming Diary

Right after your sleep sit down and write what you dreamed, don't use a cell phone because of the light.
When you think you don't dream, you are wrong! Practice the diary and you will have 4-6 dreams that you remember each night.

Do a reality check (RC) at least a few times a day

A RC is a helpful and easy to do thing. Like the name suggests you check if you are awake or sleeping. Some examples on how to do a reality check. Action, closing eyes, aksing yourself Am I sleeping or am I awake?, open your eyes, check the surroundings.
F.e.. Shut the Lights, shut your Eyes, ask yourself: Am I sleeping or am I awake?, open your eyes. If the lights are still off you are awake ( in a dream there is allways light)
Other options:
Look at your hand, if all fingers are normal, right count, right length you are awake
Close nose and mouth try to breath
Look at texts or the clock, if the text/ time is the same you are awake
Turn around, in the same enviorment = awake
There are some more just google a little.

Autosuggestion technique

There are diffrent techniques, but I use this one:
Lay down on the back, arms next to your body, very comfortable.
Use the Jacobsen muscle relaxtion technique for instance
Then you start, imagine an elevator or so:
10
Im going deeper and deeper
My body is calm, composed and relaxed
My mind is awake
With every number I'm going deeper to my to my personal layer
9
Im going deeper and deeper
My body is calm, composed and relaxed
My mind is awake
With every number I'm going deeper to my to my personal layer
...
1
Im going deeper and deeper
My body is calm, composed and relaxed
My mind is awake
I reached my personal layer

Then in my case the doors open, and I see a beach. Choose an eviorment which you like, where you feel secure.
Then I imagine 3 Ballons, which have a text written on it. F.e. I will dream lucid or I will talk to animals.
Take one ballon and let it fly and imagine how the ballon get far far away till you are not able seeing it anymore.
That is the moment when you send a message to your unconsciousness, you will feel it though.
Repeat with the other ballons.
Then turn to a side and sleep.
You will have to try it a few times because your mind will flow away from the counting. If this happens start a new at 10.

Notice: If you feel like you can't move your body anymore, that's totaly normal and called sleep paralysis. Don't panic, and keep going. If you realy wnat to move you are able to do so ;)

Waking up:

Another technique is to wkae yourself up 4-6 h after you go to bed.
Imagine what you dreamed, read about lucid dreaming, and go back to bed. Use the technique above before sleep.

There are other techniques check out

That's it for now, if it doesn't work within 2 month of trying, change the technique. Every person is different so just keep going.

P.S.: I you have your first lucidity and you wake up, because you are so excited. Try it again!
