Hello my dear Steemians!!!
Today we go in search of new magical places to share with all of you, we have no fixed direction. We go to the adventure, to see what we can find over there.
Knowing that the Emporda is an area with a very old history, we decided to lose ourselves a bit by the natural landscapes of the area and explore the less travelled roads.

We haven´t had the luck to find villages with a great history but with great beauty. The first with which we met is Ultramort, after travelling about 20 minutes for beautiful places.

We enter its streets and we see constructions of great antiquity. We arrive at the church of Santa Eulalia from the 12th century and according to the historians is the oldest temple of the bishopric of Girona.

3e.jpg

The square in which it is , is crowned by a beautiful olive tree, and is the most relevant thing that we find in this small village. We walked more of its streets but we didn´t find anything of great relevance.

We left the village and we continue with our adventure, and our guide by the road are the bell towers that we sight in the distance.

Once we have a goal , I let myself be guided by my guiding instinct to get there. ( sometimes I have to turn around , but my photographer relying on me.) We arrived and what we find seems to be a small hamlet called La Sala, because the houses are scattered and their beautiful church is secluded.

We follow a small path that takes us to the back of the church and what is our surprise, that we find a very small cemetery.

The church of Saint Mary is surrounded by beautiful green areas and crowned with a beautiful bell tower.

We continue our way leaving La Sala and we arrived to Parlavá.

14e.jpg

We enter its streets in search of its church, it seemed easy to get there because its bell tower marked us the location, but its narrow winding streets complicate the task.

15e.jpg

The access by car is finally impossible, so we decided to park and try to access on foot. We leave the car on the Constitution square, and as you can see on the photo, because of the political problem in which the area currently lives, we can see some acts of vandalism that obscure the image of the place before the visitors.

16e.jpg

Crossing a small alley we finally reached the square of the church of Sant Feliu of Parlavá.

17e.jpg

Today by bad luck to be small villages that have few inhabitants, we have found all the churches closed and we haven´t been able to enjoy their interior.

18e.jpg

It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries and in the 14th century some fortification works were carried out that led to the taking off all the walls of the perimeter of the temple, until it doubled its original height.

19e.jpg

20e.jpg

We follow our route in search of more magical places and we find the village of Rupiá, where the beautiful bell tower of Gothic style of the 14th century catches our attention.

21e.jpg

22e.jpg

We enter its streets and as you can see , everywhere we can see the yellow ties, that turns a symbol of the political situation, but I don´t want to go into details.

23e.jpg

24e.jpg

We continue with our journey and walking between the streets at last we can see from top to bottom the bell tower that dazzled us.

25e.jpg

26e.jpg

The church of Saint Vicente is a large rectangular building with a polygonal apse and choir at the feet.

27e.jpg

We continue going through its streets in which we see its antiquity but we don´t find anything that strongly calls us.

28e.jpg

29e.jpg

After having visited a few places and spending the morning looking for history, we decided that is the moment to return.
But our photographer @azabacheclaro insists as always on making an one last photo in the place where we had already passed before.

See you soon my traveller friends.

I live very close to these towns, in Celrà. I love these small towns in el Baix Empordà. Most of them are so beautiful, i like a lot to take a drink in Monells main square, a very beautiful place.
Thanks for this great post!
