#LUPUS is the most famous, yet little known autoimmune disease that 1.5 million Americans & 5 million people worldwide deal with everyday!
There's no cure for Lupus and there's been only ONE drug specifically designed to treat lupus developed in the last 50 years!
In lupus, your immune system mistakenly attacks your body's healthy cells. This causes inflammation and damage to your body's organs & connective tissue. Lupus can damage your heart, kidneys, nerves, skin, even your brain.
Lupus is not the death sentence it once was. There are medications that can help many lupus symptoms like steroids that help control an overactive immune system, chemotherapy drugs, anti- rejection medications and biologicals.
Some of the symptoms of lupus are:
Arthritis
Joint & muscle pain
Anemia
Rashes (malar butterfly rash across cheeks & bridge of nose, discoid rashes & other rashes)
Mouth and nose sores
Positive ANA (auto antibody test)
Nephritis or kidney issues
Raynauds phenomenon (blue or purple fingertips reaction to cold temperatures)
Systemic Lupus is difficult to diagnose. It can take years. And no two cases are alike!
If you think you may have an autoimmune condition, you can ask your doctor for an ANA test to see if your body is producing antibodies. The specialist you'll want to see is a rheumatologist.
You are in charge of your health care, so don't give up if you think something is wrong!
My name if John. The author of this post is my beautiful wife, Julie. She is about as much an authority on Lupus and Autoimmune Disease as most doctors and so-called advocates. I know this because I over-hear all the details of every message post, email and video and most of all the countless people whom come to her seeking advice and discussing their unique circumstances. Here's just one of her many info. sites if you need info or just pass it along at: https://butudontlooksick.wordpress.com/ or https://plus.google.com/communities/116172467635999599532 where there's a ton of stuff. I love this woman and I know you will too. xoxo
