Before becoming real international stars, Destiny's Child has released this song which is similar to No Scrubs by TLC which might be due to the same songwriter and producer. Even the lyrics are almost similar, but Bills Bills Bills is more about a guy who takes advantage of material possessions of the girl. However, there's something shady about the song because there is a sense of materialism, which sounds like anti-Can't Buy Me Love because of the character's pursuit for the guy to do.

Initially, these words doesn't sound good. It seems like the girl cares about the material things the guy can give. But if you come to think of it, those bills might have been consumed by the guy. So it's normal for the girl to demand for the bills payment.

You can understand the girl with her demands now. She's not the one who consumed everything, so expect her for the guy to pay the bills. Of course, the lyrics asking to pay her bills might not initially sit well. But if you listen to the girl's sentiments, like what the guy did, you can understand her. The guy is even worse than what's being described on No Scrubs because it was detailed.
Destiny's Child achieved what they haven't previously achieved after this song's released. It went to number 1 in America based from Billboard, their first ever in the country, but their second top 3. It also gave them their second top 10 in UK when it reached number 6, according to OCC. YouTube views are good being released years before YouTube with more than 40 million as of this writing.
