Having yet to see their goal breached after two Premier League games, Manchester United are looking water tight in defence but according to reports from Spain, boss Jose Mourinho is still looking for reinforcements ahead of the 2017/2018 campaign. Spanish portal Don Balon claims that the Portuguese tactician has his sights set on his former club and is ready to make a move for French defenderRaphael Varane fromReal Madrid. The 24-year-old defender has been a name that has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford despite having already stated that he intends to fight for his place in the Spanish capital.Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has been quick to point out this week that he wants anotherbig name signing before the window closes and Varane is certainly one of the names in the frame. Reports from the British media however, inform on Saturday that the Frenchman will be more likely a target next summer for the Premier League giants.Manchester United are also firmly inthe driving seat to sign French international winger Thomas Lemar ahead of the 2017/2018 season. The 21-year-old player has been another of the summer window’s hottest names despite AS Monaco’s desperate attempts to keep hold of him. Arsenal had beenheavily linked but with The Gunners not ready to meet the French side’s asking price, the Red Devils are ready to move in and secure the deal. Speaking on the transfer window podcast, journalist Ian McGarry was convinced Lemar would be the next addition at Old Trafford when he stated that;“I would say Manchester United are in the driving seat right now. I think Wenger was depending on the whole French connection at Arsenal, bringing in a player who obviously has played for the (French) national team with Giroud, Lacazette, Koscielny and others. But they haven’t got the deal over the line yet and they’ve been trying for six weeks. And if Manchester United did come in with the right offer and the right contract and the charm and charisma of Jose Mourinho telling a player how he’ll play, where he will play as he does.”– Ian McGarry explained.
