Another cool post @harferri !

The top and bottom insects appear to be cicadas, from the Superfamily Cicadoidea. They emit a loud buzzing, or humming sound, and there are well over 1200 species worldwide. They have interesting life cycles, sometimes staying buried for decades as larva before emerging to reproduce.
